Post-Game Quotes

ARKANSAS vs. LOUISIANA-MONROE

Dec. 29, 2007

POST-GAME QUOTES

Arkansas Head Coach John Pelphrey:

“I am very excited about having the chance to win again. The game was kind of close the first half, but we started to take over during the second half. As a team, we are going to forget about our past losses, and try to have more consistency on a higher playing level.”

“I was impressed with our turnovers. I just wanted our players to drive it in that three-point line. Monroe actually pulled it off, with all the three-pointers they made.”

“Patrick Beverley started off great both defensively and offensively.”

“Sonny Weems controlled the free throws throughout the whole game.”

“Our team was all there to step up. If we have more assists and fewer turnovers, I think we will be in good shape for the games to come.”

“I believe the Baylor game is going to be big and full of excitement. It helps for the game to be in Dallas because I know we will always have support there.”

Arkansas Players

Charles Thomas:

“We won the first 10 minutes of the game but we knew we had to stay focused for the entire game. We knew they could come back. Coach Pelphrey wanted us to take away the three-pointers and we were able to do that.”

Darian Townes:

“We responded well (after the loss). We knew coming into the game that they were a big three-point shooting team. They had undersized post players but they were strong inside.”

Sonny Weems:

“We played great. Everyone’s focused after a loss. No one likes losing and we had to just come back. I had a good break and it’s good to get a win after getting back. We had some good practices after the break and now we’re going to focus on Baylor.”

Louisiana-Monroe Head Coach Orlando Early:

“The way they pressed and how active they are, I knew we had to be prepared. I just expected the score to be closer.

“We were four guys short this game. They just couldn’t play at the level they needed to beat an Arkansas team.

Hats off to Arkansas, they really defended in the second half.”

“Our team has lived and died by the three-point shot, and we’re finally growing out of that.”

“What I liked the most about how Arkansas played is that they really didn’t press; they showed they can play the half-court game.”
