ARKANSAS vs. Dillard

POST-GAME QUOTES

Arkansas Head Coach John Pelphrey:

“I really enjoyed the pace of the game tonight. We pushed the floor a lot and were really up-tempo for most of the game. We need to get to where we can play that fast and defend at the same time.”

ON MICHAEL WASHINGTON:

“Mike’s our rock. He got in some foul trouble early so we kind of had to work around that. He keeps producing, and keeps doing what we expect of him.”

ON DEFENSIVE PLAY:

“We have a lot we need to evaluate before [Southeastern Louisiana]. Obviously we need to get more consistent on the defensive end, and produce some offense off turnovers and things like that.”

Rotnei Clarke, G:

“Tonight was a lot of fun. It was good to get Courtney (Fortson) back on the floor and show the fans a little bit of what he can do. It was just great to finally come together as a team.”

“I think we might have left some of our defense out on the floor and may have taken a step back in that department. All we can do is get back on the practice floor and get better.”

Courtney Fortson, G:

“It was just great to finally get on the floor. We’re all ready for the regular season. Exhibitions were fun, but they’re behind us and we need to keep getting better.”

ON PLAYING HIS FIRST GAME:

“It was great. Obviously I did what I had to do in sitting out a few games and correcting some things, but I think I’m a little stronger because of it.”

Jason Henry, F:

“That [exhibition play] was fun, but I think we’re all ready for the regular season to get here. This up-tempo offense is going to be fun with the guys we have here. I’ve played this type of basketball for a while and I love it.”

DILLARD

Head Coach Dale Brown:

“I was proud of our play tonight. Arkansas plays with a lot of pressure. It’s a similar style to how we play.”

“It’s a dream come true to be able to coach against one of my former teammates. Coach Pelphrey’s been in the coaching ranks coming up and I’m glad to be able to get some exposure from playing a team like Arkansas.”

“With the effects of Hurricane Katrina, our enrollment at Dillard has gone down and it’s nice to get some exposure in order to get our enrollment back up.”
