Post-Game Quotes

Arkansas vs. LSU-Shreveport

Nov. 12, 2005

Arkansas Head Coach Stan Heath

“I thought it was a very fun and entertaining game. The first half was fast and furious with a lot of transition. We were trying to adjust to the speed of the game. It took us a little time, but I thought we settled in and rebounded well. We shot a high percentage from the field and didn’t turn the ball over.”

On Darian Townes and Charles Thomas:

“Both played very well. Darian (Townes) was sizzling in the first half, making strong moves to basket. Charles (Thomas) made some nice, strong moves to the basket. He’s getting more and more confident. Both played very, very well for us tonight.”

On Vincent Hunter:

“We feel like it’s better news that we had thought. We think it’s something he’ll recover from quickly. We don’t think it’s as serious as it might have looked on the court. We still plan on taking Sunday and Monday off. Dave England will be working 24/7 with the guys on any nicks and bruises they might have, and we expect a full squad for practice on Tuesday.”

Free Throws:

“I challenged the guys to be efficient at the free throw line. With as much as we attack the basket, we are going to get to the free throw line a lot. We need to be efficient at the line and make teams pay for fouling us.”

Arkansas Forward Darian Townes:

“With my injury I felt my performance was good, but I still have a lot of things to work on. I feel real healthy right now, but I still need treatment.”

Arkansas Guard Ronnie Brewer on 1st half to 2nd half:

“We started getting fast break points which led to many easy baskets in transition, and our guard play with Sean (McCurdy) really stepped up and that was a big key for the difference.”

Arkansas Forward Charles Thomas:

“We’re just having fun playing the game, LSUS has great players and shooters, but we came together and just kept coming at them.”
