This is the fifth of 20 preseason features highlighting each student-athlete on the University of Arkansas volleyball team. Each day a different Razorback will draw and answer seven (out of a 15) get-to-know-you questions to give the fans a peek into their personality away from the volleyball court. The 2014 season begins Aug. 29 against Tennessee State at 7 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena.
Day 5 (Wednesday, August 13):
Freshman | DS/OH | 5-9
San Antonio, Texas (Reagan HS)
Q: If you could teach a class on any topic, what would it be?
Q: If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?
Kolbinskie: I don’t watch a lot of TV but I’d like to be on Grey’s Anatomy. It’s not reality TV but love that show.
Q: What’s the funniest/most embarrassing thing to happen to you on a volleyball court?
Kolbinskie: This didn’t happen on the court but it’s related to volleyball. My freshman year in high school, our coach was really upset. We won the game but didn’t play well. We usually had practice at 3:20 p.m. because school let out at 3:10 but that day she said practice was going to be at 3. I was thinking ‘how is that going to work but ok.’ So that night, I woke up at 2 in the morning to be at practice at 3 in the morning. I show up and the on-campus police was confused. Clearly, she meant 3 p.m. It was really funny.
Q: If this team was a band, would you be a singer, background dancer or play an instrument?
Kolbinskie: I would want to be the head of an instrument section, like lead guitarist.
Q: What is the most interesting/funniest account you follow on Twitter?
Kolbinskie: College Humor, by far. It’s hilarious.
Q: If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you?
Kolbinskie: Water, my dad and food.
Q: On a perfect day, what is your ideal high and low temperature?
Kolbinskie: I’m from Texas so on a perfect day, the temperature would be about 80 degrees as a high. The low would be 65.
