Day 20 (Thursday, August 28, 2014):
Senior | OH | 5-11
Hereford, Texas (New Mexico State)
Q: On an perfect day, what is your ideal high and low temperature?
Hays: The high temperature would be 65 to 70 degrees with a low of around 45. I appreciate the cooler temperatures. I’m all about hoodies and sweatpants.
Q: If you could teach one class on any topic, what would it be?
Hays: If I could teach a class on the benefits of coffee, I would. I’d also like to teach a class on self-worth in a Biblical sense.
Q: If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be?
Hays: Fixer Uppers. First of all, the couple is precious and their kids are precious. The things they do with homes are so cute. I would let them fix up any house for me but I wouldn’t mind being involved in the fixing up, too. I could be on either side.
Q: What is the funniest/most interesting account you follow on Instagram?
Hays: There are so many surfers, wave photographers and landscape photographers that are constantly popping up…anything with animals, landscapes and waves. I’ve been following a lot of those things lately.
Q: Other than volleyball, what sport would you like to compete in at the Olympics (summer or winter)?
Hays: Well, I would compete in softball if it hadn’t been taken out of the Olympics. (Team USA) is awesome!
Q: Would you rather go to a movie OR dinner by yourself?
Hays: I don’t feel like I’m awkward either way so I could handle it. I love food so I could do that and if there’s a good movie that nobody else wants to see with me, I’ll just go see it. I’m ok with it.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from Europe/this summer?
Hays: Split, obviously, was super fun because of Barbara and karaoke. All of that was really cool. But the fact that we were up for nearly 36 hours straight without much good sleep when we first got (to Italy) is really memorable, too. We went into the city and then played a match. I think it’s really cool that we did that and experienced that as a team.
