Preseason Workouts Begin For Razorback Soccer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Preseason workouts for the Razorback soccer team got officially underway this week with a morning practice on Wednesday in some unseasonably cool temperatures at Razorback Field.

Head coach Colby Hale enters his seventh season at Arkansas and is coming off the program’s first back-to-back 10-win seasons in school history and the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years. But even with the sustained success, Hale thinks his team is ready to take the next jump.

“We’re in this cycle where we were able to take a program without much success and achieve some good things,” Arkansas head coach Colby Hale said. “Now, we’re trying to go from ‘good’ to ‘great.’ We’re making NCAA Tournaments, we’re making SEC Tournament finals, we’re doing a lot of good things that have never been done, but now we want to win those big matches. ‘How do we win SEC finals? How do we go farther in the NCAA Tournament? How do we finish higher in the SEC?’ It definitely feels like this team is pretty hungry.”

A total of 14 letterwinners, including 12 starters are back on the squad after an 11-win season that included an appearance in the NCAA Tournament First Round, the SEC Tournament final for the second-straight year, and a school record-tying 10 shutouts.

Delicious Delicacies On Tap
With the first practice not scheduled until Wednesday morning, the players utilized their final free night with a intrasquad cooking competition. Players were divided up into four teams and were tasked with creating a dish based on taste, creativity, nutritional value and presentation.

Three special judges were on hand to decide the winner as Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek and his wife Jennifer, as well as women’s basketball coach Mike Neighbors got to taste all the treats.
