Price Carries on with Win at ITA Indoor Champi

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Arkansas’ Nathan Price advances to the finals of consolation at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor Championships with a win on Saturday, while teammate Adrians Zguns loses a close fought battle.
“I think these two players have shown this weekend that they belong with the best in the country,” head coach Robert Cox said. “Adrians did not play as well as he could have today, but he still competed hard. Nathan defeated a highly ranked player to move on in the tournament.”
In the semifinals of consolation, Price took on Richard Barker of Rice. Price took control of the match early to gain the momentum from Barker, No. 18 in the nation. Price took advantage of a couple of breaks to beat Barker by a break of serve in each set, 6-3, 6-4.
Zguns played Jesse Witten of Kentucky in the semifinals of consolation. Zguns, No. 71 in the nation, played Witten, No. 9 in the nation, closely, but never could get over the top as Witten won by a break in each set, 6-4, 6-4.
After strong play against top ten opponents all weekend, Zguns moves his record in the fall to (15-4). Price carries a fall record of (16-5) into his final match of the tournament Sunday.
Price will take on Kentucky’s Jessie Witten Sunday morning in the finals of the consolation draw.
