FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior Nathan Price picked up a pair of big victories last week and was rewarded by earning Southeastern Conference Tennis Player of the Week honors on Tuesday while also making a huge jump in the rankings. The Tulsa native knocked off Marcus Westman of South Carolina on Friday, 6-2, 7-5, and closed his Arkansas home career with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over seventh-ranked Hamid Mirzadeh of Florida on Sunday. With the wins, Price improved to 30-11 this year, including a 9-4 mark at No. 1 singles and a 6-5 record in SEC play. The two wins moved him from No. 83 to No. 38 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Price joined Adrians Zguns (33-8), who moved from No. 19 up to No. 16 in this week’s rankings, as 30-match winners this year. They are the first Razorbacks to win 30 matches in a season since All-American Marcus Hilpert went 47-4 in 1994. Price has won four of his last five and Zguns has won six straight. Arkansas beat No. 40 USC last week, 5-2, and lost to No. 9 Florida, 4-3, and moved up from No. 27 to No. 26 in this week’s rankings.
