The Houston Texans announced that Mallett will be the starting quarterback on Sunday when Houston travels to take on the Carolina Panthers. Mallett served as the backup to Brian Hoyer last week, but replaced Hoyer late in the game and completed 8 of 13 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown.
There were also two additions to NFL practice squads last week as wide receiver Javontee Herndon signed with the San Diego Chargers and defensive lineman Robert Thomas signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
