FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas volleyball head coach Robert Pulliza is featured in the January 2012 edition of El Latino, a publication of Arkansas Times. As part of the publication’s 2012 Who’s Who series, Pulliza is one of 25 people featured for their respective impact in the Hispanic community in the state of Arkansas.
Having just completed his fourth season as the Razorback head coach, Pulliza has guided the program back into the national picture. Arkansas’ 18 overall wins are the most for the team since 2005, while the 10 SEC wins are the most since the conference moved to its current double round-robin format. The team also had its highest SEC finish in the league standings since the 2005 season.
Pulliza and the Razorbacks have also been successful in their efforts away from the court. In March 2011, the team hosted a volleyball clinic with Special Olympics Arkansas and had more than 130 youth and adult players participating.
Along with his wife, he established the Robert and Jamie Pulliza Opportunity Scholarship in 2009. The scholarship was founded for a non-athlete attending the University of Arkansas based on academic achievement, leadership and community involvement. Hayden Herrera, a native of Springdale, Ark., was the first recipient of the scholarship.
