FAYETTEVILLE – In another wave of preseason rankings released Monday afternoon, the University of Arkansas baseball team is the No. 15 team heading into the 2010 season, according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Rivals.com. The polls represent the fourth and fifth preseason rankings released prior to opening day.The Razorbacks’ position falls in line with the other preseason releases so far. Arkansas is slotted between No. 15 and 17 in four of the five polls. In each ranking, the Hogs have been the second Southeastern Conference Western division team behind defending national champion LSU. Eight SEC teams are represented in the NCBWA’s top 35, while six are listed in the top 25 by Rivals. Both figures are the high mark for a conference in the respective polls. Texas is the top-ranked team in both sets of rankings.Kansas and Oklahoma, two of the Razorbacks’ non-conference matchups this season, also received a preseason nod. The Jayhawks are No. 33 in the NCBWA poll while Rivals has them ranked 25th. The Sooners were skipped over by Rivals but land at No. 25 on the NCBWA list.Arkansas begins the 2010 season Feb. 19-21 against Ball State in a three-game series to be played at Baum Stadium. Fans are encouraged to attend "Meet the Razorbacks" Day on Feb. 6 at the Northwest Arkansas Mall as the Razorback baseball team will be in attendance to sign autographs from 4-6 p.m. The Diamond Dolls, RBI Girls and Ribby the Mascot will also be on hand to interact with fans.
