Razorback Golfers Prepare for Coastal Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After battling with the weather for the past two tournaments the Arkansas golf team hopes to have mother nature cooperate as they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 9-11.
Senior Nick Beach, juniors Andrew Dahl, Seth Murphy and Adam Wing and freshman Paul Bradshaw are going to represent the Hogs on the par 72, 6,950-yard Tournament Players Club of Myrtle Beach.
“This golf tournament will provide a great opportunity for us to play on a great golf course,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “It’s our first time to play on this course and I’ve always said that if par is between 70 and 72 it will play into the strengths of our team. I like where we are right now and we’re starting to show depth. If we’re consistent in the fourth and fifth spots, then we’ll have an opportunity to win.”
Four of the golfers traveling to this weekend’s tournament last competed in San Antonio, Texas at the UTSA Invitational on February 23-25, but they were only allowed to play through one round after freezing temperatures and rain cancelled the rest of the tournament.
Dahl leads the team with a low stroke average of 72.3 and tied for seventh at the UTSA Invitational with a four-over-par 75. Wing is next with an average of 72.6 and tied with Dahl two weeks ago.
Bradshaw is coming into the tournament with a 73.5 stroke average and shot a round of 82 at the UTSA Invitational for a 57th place finish. Murphy and Beach are looking to solidify their fourth and fifth man positions. Murphy tied for 30th at UTSA with a six-over-par 78, while Beach’s last time on the course was almost a month ago at the Taylor Made Big Island Classic on February 10-14. Beach was disqualified from the tournament after his group teed off from the wrong spot in the second round.
Upon returning from Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Razorbacks will hit the road again for their fifth consecutive spring tournament of the 2003 season at the Morris William Invitational in Austin, Texas on March 16-18.
