Razorback Golfers Tied for 17th After Two Roun

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Arkansas men’s golf shot a 16-over-par round of 296 on Thursday in the second round of the NCAA Golf Championships at 7,131-yard Caves Valley Golf Club to finish the day in a five-way tie for 17th place.
The Razorbacks started their day on 10th hole but struggled home on front side, dropping 11 of their 16 strokes over the final nine holes. Arkansas has a two-round total of 24-over-par 584 entering Friday’s third round. The NCAA will cut the field to the top 15 teams following the third round.
Georgia leads the 30-team field with a 2-under-par 558 after the first two days of action. Tennessee is in second place with a seven-over-par score of 567 and Georgia Tech is in third place at 569.
Sophomore Beau Glover has led the Razorbacks charge over the first two rounds and sits in a tie for 18th place at 1-over-par 141. He shot a round 1-over round of 71 on Thursday after shooting even par in the first round.
Matt Bortis played his final five holes of the day at 3-over-par to finish with an 8-over round of 78 on Thursday. He opened with a 1-over-par round of 71 on Wednesday and enters the third round in a tie for 96th place.
Scotty Campbell also had trouble closing out his second round, making three bogeys in over the final four holes. He shot a 76 in the second round and is in a tie for 106th at 10-over par for the tournament.
Eric Shriver bounced back in the second round with 1-over-par 71 after an 81 in the opening round. He is in a tie for 128th heading into Friday’s third-round action. Josh Farrell shot an 82 in the second round after a 73 in the first round.
The Hogs will tee off on the first hole at 12:18 p.m. in Friday’s third round of the 108th NCAA Men’s Division I Golf Championships with Farrell leading the way. His teammates will follow in nine-minute increments and will be joined by SMU and Coastal Carolina.
