Razorback Football moves on to Tulsa

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback football spent just under two hours on the practice fields just south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium preparing for Saturday’s game against No. 19 Tulsa.

"We are trying to come out here and have a great week of practice," offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said. "We are trying to win this last home game for these seniors and that’s the motto for this week. We want everyone to come out here and work really hard to get this win for these seniors. That’s what this week is about."

High on Arkansas’ list of preparations for the Tulsa game include the explosive offense and big numbers Tulsa has put up this season.

"Whenever you play a team like this that is known for putting up big numbers, it does put pressure on your offense," Petrino said. "We have to do a good job of getting in the endzone and scoring points ourselves. Scoring points is something we have to focus on and is really important in our preparations."

Petrino was fairly pleased with the effort he and the coaching staff got out of the players today.

"I think we got off to a good start preparing today," Petrino said. "It was okay. We need to concentrate on taking care of the football and staying out on the field as long as we can. We need to keep (Tulsa) on the sidelines and put points on the board at the same time."

Having healthy players for the depth chart is also a priority in preparing for the Tulsa game. A rough stretch of games in October have left some of the Razorbacks banged up but Petrino and the rest of the staff are optimistic that they will have options come Saturday. Lucas Miller is one of those who are recovering from injuries that Petrino will look to to make plays.

"It took Lucas (Miller) some time to recover from his concussion and he hurt his knee a little bit too playing on special teams," Petrino said. "Last week in practice he was back to playing well and he had a great bounce about him. He really brought some energy to the field."

The Razorbacks will return to the practice fields Wednesday to continue preparations for Tulsa. For more information on Arkansas Athletics, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
