Razorback Game-Rehearsal Scrimmage Set for Aug. 19

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt and the 2006 Razorback football team are inviting Razorback fans to get prepared for the upcoming season by attending a game-rehearsal scrimmage on Aug. 19 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The 6 p.m. scrimmage is free to the public. Posters and bumper stickers will be distributed to fans at the gates of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. More information will be announced on www.hogwired.com in the coming weeks.

“In preparation for our season opener, we wanted to have a final rehearsal scrimmage with a game-like atmosphere,” Nutt said. “It will give our fans an opportunity to preview the team and will give our new players a taste of what Razorback game day is like. We have the best fans in the country and I know they are excited about the 2006 season. We are looking forward to a special day.”

The game-rehearsal scrimmage will be held on the Saturday traditionally occupied by Fan Appreciation Day. The Fan Day-event will be moved to the spring in hopes of better accommodating Razorback fans and the football team’s pre-season schedule.

“We have moved the traditional fan day to the spring so we can move the festivities later in the day and take advantage of some cooler spring temperatures,” Nutt said. “We are hopeful the switch to the spring will provide an opportunity for more fans to take part in that special event. Even with that change, we still wanted to provide an opportunity for our fans to get familiar with the 2006 Razorbacks.”

Arkansas players report for pre-season camp on Thursday, Aug. 3, with the first practice set for Saturday, Aug. 5. The Razorbacks open the 2006 season on Sept. 2 against the USC Trojans at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. The game will kick at 7:45 p.m. CT and will be televised by ESPN.
