Razorback Golf Announces 2007-08 Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. The Arkansas men’s golf team will tee off in 11 events, including the SEC Championships, during the 2007-08 schedule. The team will play five events in the fall and six during the spring semester.

“We start off with a tough schedule in the fall and play five very difficult courses, so we are going to know how tough these kids are early on,” said head coach Brad McMakin. “We play on a course that has hosted the PGA Championship at Oak Tree (Edmond, Okla.) and another that hosts a tour event (PGA Wyndham Championship) in North Carolina.”

The Razorbacks will begin their fall season on Sept. 15-16 with the Gopher Invitational at the Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minn. The next event for the team will be the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind., on Sept. 22-23. The following weekend UA will compete at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic in Notre Dame, Ind. For the second consecutive season, the team will participate in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla., on Oct. 14-16. The final event of the fall schedule will be the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate on Oct. 29-30 at the Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Arkansas opens its spring schedule on Feb. 20-22 with the John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Leilehua Golf Club in Oahu. The team will compete in two events during one week when it plays in the Callaway Invitational in San Diego on March 10-11, followed by the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on March 14-15. The Razorbacks will travel to Oregon on March 24-25 to play in the Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club. UA will then take part in the Mizzou Intercollegiate in Columbia, Mo., on April 7-8. The 2008 SEC Championships will play out on the Sea Islands’ Seaside Course in St. Simon Island, Ga., on April 18-20.

“Our schedule is set up to where we will be playing in good tournaments against the right competition,” said McMakin who believes this year’s schedule will set his team up for postseason play.

The NCAA Regionals will be played on May 15-17 with the season concluding at the NCAA Championships played May 28-31 on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.
