Razorback Golf Camps

The University of Arkansas Junior Golf Camps Schedule

REGULAR CAMP SESSION – JUNE 13-16,2010

Coming off of a record setting runner-up performance at last year’s NCAA Tournament, the men’s golf program is excited about this year’s junior golf camp. The Razorback Junior Men’s Golf Camp will be held from Sunday, June 13-Wednesday, June 16. The golf camp is open to any male golfers between the ages of 8-18, who have not entered their freshman year of college. The program will benefit beginners, intermediate, and advanced golfers who aspire to elevate their game while having fun in a challenging and competitive environment. All campers will be placed in a division according to his experience and skills testing conducted on the day of arrival. There will be 4-5 golfers per group and each group will rotate through different instructional stations throughout the week. This will enable the coaches and teaching professionals to maintain an impressive student-to-teacher ratio. And, as a result, campers will receive quality instruction and individual attention throughout the many hours of small group instruction and competition. Coach Savoie of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Barrett Lais of the University of Denver, and Stan Wright (PGA of America professional) will be the primary instructors.

All campers (except commuters) will be housed on campus in University of Arkansas dormitories. Strict supervision will be provided 24-hours a day at the golf course, dormitories, and during evening recreational activities. Camper registration will begin on Sunday, June 13th at noon. Camper evaluations and skills testing for grouping purposes will begin immediately following camp registration. The camp will conclude with a tournament and awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16. Parents are welcome to attend.

We will be utilizing the world-class Blessings Golf Club, Links of Fayetteville, and The Greens for play and competition, while daily practice and instruction sessions will be held at the Fred and Mary Smith Razorback Golf Facility (the Blessings practice facility and University of Arkansas Men’s Golf building). University of Arkansas players will serve as camp counselors and will assist with instruction, transportation needs, and oversee all dormitory activities. The camp will cover all aspects of golf. Extensive attention will be given to the full swing, short game, wedge game, pitching/chipping, bunker play, and putting. Each camper will receive a CD-ROM documenting his personal instruction and will feature audio/video of swing changes and drills for continued improvement. There will also be a rules seminar with rules test and a course management session. We will conclude the camp will a tournament among the age divisions. Tournament winners will receive awards for their play and prizes will be given for many other competitions.

Besides serious instruction and competitions we want to ensure that every camper has a fun experience while he is visiting the University of Arkansas and the Fayetteville area. We will make activities available for the campers every night. They will have a very valuable opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the University of Arkansas golf coaches and Razorback team players to discuss NCAA Division I competition, recruiting, and academic issues. In the evenings, campers will be treated with Gator Golf, a pizza and pool party at the Arkansas Athletic Outreach student center, and a night at Lokomotion. All activities will be paid for through the application fee. The only extra money needed for each camper will be for miscellaneous items such as sodas, snacks, and late night pizza orders.
