Razorback Golfers Begin Play at Hall of Fame Invitational

HUMBLE, Texas – The Arkansas men’s golf team opens play at the Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday at the Redstone Golf Course looking for its first tournament win of the season.

The Razorbacks are one of 17 teams participating in the three-day, 54-hole tournament. UA is playing its second tournament this week after finishing in a tie for sixth place at the Jim Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Monday, March 13.

Top-ranked Georgia and No. 2 Oklahoma State headline the strong field at the Hall of Fame Invitational. The tournament features seven top 25 teams, including No. 10 Duke, No. 13 East Tennessee State, No. 14 Clemson, No. 16 Texas A&M and No. 25 New Mexico, along with the country’s top-two teams.

The Hogs will start the same five golfers they did in the Jim Hackler Invitational last Sunday and Monday.

Junior Matt Bortis, the Razorbacks’ top scorer, joins sophomores Scotty Campbell and Eric Shriver along with freshman Jordan Payne in the starting lineup this weekend.

Junior Beau Glover will also play for the Hogs this weekend after having to withdraw prior to the second round last Sunday at the Jim Hackler Invitational with an injured wrist.

Arkansas is scheduled to tee off at 7:30 a.m. from Redstone Golf Course on Friday. The Razorbacks will play along side two top 25 teams in Duke and New Mexico. The second round of the Hall of Fame Invitational is slated for Saturday with the final round on Sunday.
