Razorback Golfers Finish 15th at UHH Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, Hawai’i – The University of Arkansas men’s golf team turned in a final round 290 to finish 15th at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo Intercollegiate on Friday at the 6,777-yard Waikoloa Village Golf Course.

The Razorbacks shot a final round 6-over-par 290 to finish with a three-round total of 872 (+20), just four strokes out of the top 10.

No. 3 Georgia Tech won the UHH Intercollegiate with a tournament total of 825 (-27). No. 2 Oklahoma State finished second place with a final round 278 for a three-day total of 839 (-13). Southern California finished third place at 840 (-12) with Hawai’i fourth (850, -2) and Stanford fifth (258, +6).

Junior Matt Bortis was the Hogs’ top scorer after firing a 2-over-par 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for 23rd place. He finished with a tournament total of even-par 213.

Freshman Jordan Payne shot his best round of the UHH Intercollegiate with an even-par 71 on Friday. He equaled his career-best 54-hole total at 217 (+4).

Beau Glover carded a 5-over-par 76 in the third round to finish in a tie for 55th at 221 (+8). Scotty Campbell tuned in his best round in Hawai’i with a 1-under-par 70 in the final. He finished in a tie for 84th place with a three-day total of 226 (+13). Eric Shriver shot a 77 on Friday and finished tied for 92nd.

Georgia Tech’s Cameron Tringale led the tournament wire-to-wire to captured medalist honors with a 11-under-par 202. Hawaii’s Travis Toyama shot a third round 65 (-6) to finish second, one shot ahead of Oklahoma State’s top-ranked Pablo Martin. Martin finished third at 204 after shooting a 1-under-par 70 in the final round.

The Razorbacks are off for four weeks before traveling to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Jim Hackler Invitational on March 12-13.
