Razorback Golfers in 15th After First Round of NIT Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arkansas men’s golf team is in 15th place with a 9-over-par round of 297 following the first round of the NIT Invitational at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club.

The Razorbacks are 20 strokes back of tournament leader UCLA, who shot an 11-under-par 277 in the opening round. Arizona State is in second place with a 10-under-par round of 278 with host Arizona in third after a 7-under-par round of 277.

Scotty Campbell posted the Razorbacks top score on Sunday with an even-par 72. He is tied for 30th place headed into Monday’s second round. Senior Josh Farrell and junior Matt Bortis are close behind after shooting 2-over-par 74s on the opening 18 holes. They are both tied for 48th place.

Junior Beau Glover is tied for 76th after a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday. Eric Shriver is in 84th place after the first round with an 8-over-par 80 on the 7,094-yard, par 72 layout.

The Bruins Eric Flores leads the individual leader board with a 7-under-par 65 on the opening day of play. Fresno State’s Jason Anthony and Arizona State’s Alejandro Canizares are tied for second with first-round 67s.

The second round is scheduled for Monday morning with the final 18 holes to be played Tuesday.
