LAREDO, Texas – Arkansas men’s golf team is in ninth place after two rounds of the Border Olympics golf tournament on Friday at the par-72, 7,241-yard Laredo Country Club.
The Razorbacks opened with an 11-over-par 299 during Friday’s opening 18 holes, but rebounded with a strong 6-under-par 282 in round two. Lamar leads the event at 23-under-par 555 with 285 in round one and a 270 on the second 18. Vanderbilt is in second at 12-under-par 566 with Texas-Arlington in third at 570.
Sophomore Andrew Landry and redshirt freshman Dalton Owens lead the Hogs after 36 holes and are tied for 13th heading into Saturday’s final round. Landry opened with a 73 in the first round but bounced back with a 2-under-par 70 on the second 18 holes. Owens shot a 74 in tough conditions in round one, but fired a career-low 69 in the second round.
Redshirt freshman Stephen Cox opened with a 76 but put things together in the second round with a 1-under-par 71. He is tied for 39th place at 3-over-par 147. Freshman Frederico Colombo also put together a strong second round with an even par 70 and is tied for 47th position at 4-over-par 148.
Sophomore Jason Cuthbertson shot a 77 in the first round and a 76 in round two to close out the Razorbacks scoring.
