Razorback Golfers Open Year at the University of Hawai?i at Hilo Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, Hawai’i. – The University of Arkansas men’s golf team opens 2006 at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo Intercollegiate, Feb. 8-10, at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course.

The 21-team field includes five teams from the Golfweek top 25. The Razorbacks are making their 15th consecutive trip to the event that is in its 16th year of existence.

“This is an outstanding event that we go to every year,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “We are going to play an outstanding golf course against some of the best teams in the country.”

The Razorbacks will feature a starting five of Matt Bortis, Scotty Campbell, Beau Glover, Eric Shriver and Jordan Payne.

“This event gives us a chance to compete against some of the best competition in the country,” Ketcham said. “Out team is getting better each time out. Beau Glover and Eric Shriver have really played well since we came back from Christmas.”

The University of Hawai’i at Hilo Intercollegiate is played on the 6,814-yard, par-72 Waikoloa Village Golf Course. Tee times for the tournament begin at 11 a.m. each day (7 a.m. in Hawai’i). The 54-hole tournament consists of 18 holes per day with teams teeing off from the first and 10th hole.

Second-ranked Oklahoma State and third-ranked Georgia Tech headline a field that also includes No. 7 Arizona State, No. 21 Washington and No. 22 Pepperdine.
