Razorback Golfers Tied for 14th at Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arkansas men’s golf team is in 14th place after two rounds of the Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday at the 7,017-yard, par-71 ASU Karsten Golf Course.

The Razorbacks shots a 10-over-par 294 in the opening round and followed that with a 9-over-par 293 in the second round.

San Diego State and UNLV lead the tournament at 19-under-par 549. Kansas State and Arizona are tied for third place with 10-under-par totals of 558. Stanford is in fifth at 559 and host Arizona State is sixth at 560.

Senior Josh Farrell led the Razorbacks’ contingent on Saturday with two rounds of 1-over-par 72 for a 144. He is in a tie for 37th place heading into Sunday third and final round.

Junior Matt Bortis is tied for 44th with rounds of even-par 71 and a 3-over-par 74 for a total of 145. Sophomore Eric Shriver is four shots back of Bortis in a tie for 64th place. He fired rounds of 5-over-par 76 and 2-over-par 73 for a 36-hole total of 149.

Sophomore Scotty Campbell is tied for 66th place at 8-over-par 150 on Saturday. He shot rounds of 76 and 74. Freshman Jordan Payne shot a 77 and a 75 to sit in at tie for 73rd position at 10-over-par 152 through 36 holes.

Kansas State’s Ben Kern leads the individual chase after rounds of 2-under-par 69 and 6-under-par 65 for an 8-under-par total of 134.

The final round is scheduled for Sunday morning from the ASU Karsten Golf Course.
