Razorback Invitational next for women?s track

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field will continue the 2009 indoor season with the hosting of the Razorback Invitational, Jan 23-24, at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Alabama, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Southern, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, TCU and Tulsa will be competing with the Hogs at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday and Saturday.

Highlight events include five Razorbacks in Saturday’s pole vault, Arkansas harriers in the invitational 800 meters and mile races and senior Peter-Gaye Beckford in the pentathlon.

Arkansas student-athletes hold the top spots in the SEC in the pole vault (Katie Stripling) and the long jump (Peter-Gaye Beckford). Additionally, the Razorbacks hold four spots in the top three in four different events. Nationally, Stripling ranks fourth in the vault, Tina Sutej is sixth in the vault and Beckford is seventh in the long jump.
