Razorback rally comes up short at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -Bo Spencer scored 21 points, going 5-of-6 from 3-point range, and LSU celebrated 100 years of basketball with a 79-69 victory over Arkansas on Saturday.

Chris Johnson had 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots for LSU (17-4, 5-1 Southeastern Conference), while Marcus Thornton also scored 18 points

Michael Washington scored 24 for Arkansas (13-6, 1-5), which has lost four of its last five games. Courtney Fortson had 17 points and nine assists for the Razorbacks, and Rotnei Clarke added 12 points.

Arkansas shot just 27 percent in the first half and was out-rebounded 27-14 in falling behind 41-21 at the half. In the second period, the Razorbacks shot 57 percent while holding the Tigers to 35 percent in getting within 64-59. The Hogs were forced to foul and LSU made 23-of-27 free throws for the game while Arkansas was 8-of-11 at the line.

The Razorbacks play host to Tennessee on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. in a game televised by Raycom Sports.
