FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas head soccer coach Colby Hale announced the 2013 spring soccer scheduled last week and the Razorbacks open with an 11 a.m. match with Oklahoma Saturday at Razorback Field. The Razorbacks are coming off one of the most successful seasons in recent history going 9-10-1 overall and 6-6-1. Arkansas reached the SEC Tournament for the first time in 12 years. The Sooners are coming off a 7-9-4 season with a 3-3-2 mark in Big 12 play last fall. “We have to continue with the imprinting the culture that we have,” Hale said. “It is in preparation for the fall season and this is an opportunity for players to prove that the increased role is something they can handle. We are looking at some things from an attacking standpoint. We return everyone on defense and really we are going to prioritize what is important. We want to evaluate some individuals and see where we are.” The match is the first of seven events for the Razorbacks this spring and one of two home contests. The home events are free and open to the public. "We set up matches that would allow us to compete at a level that would ultimately prepare us for the fall,” Hale said. “There are some really good teams in the mix and it will give some of the players vying for different roles to show in match-like situations that they are ready for that. It’s a really good group and I think they are excited to build on what they were able to accomplish in the fall."
