@RazorbackMTEN Defeated By No. 24 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 24 LSU, 6-1, at Dub Stadium on Sunday.

With the loss the Razorbacks fell to 11-11 overall, 1-7 in the SEC, while the Tigers improved to 15-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The doubles point went to LSU after the Tigers took courts two and three. Playing in the No. 3 spot, freshman David Herrerias and sophomore Juan Marino fell to Chris Simpson and Justin Butsch 6-1. Next, junior William Albanese and sophomore Johan den Toom were defeated by Tam Trinh and Eric Perez 6-2 to complete the point.

Herrerias collected the lone singles win of the day in the No. 6 position. The freshman netted a convincing 7-6, 6-4 victory over Simon Freund.

Three Razorbacks forced their competition to third sets after losing in the first. Junior Santiago Munoz, No. 81 Micolani and Albanese battled through three before ultimately falling in their final sets.

Arkansas will host a pair of conference matches at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center next week. The Razorbacks will first face Kentucky at 2 p.m., CT on Thursday and then Tennessee at 1 p.m., CT on Saturday.
