FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team heads out on the road for the second weekend of SEC play, taking on Auburn and Alabama over the weekend. The Razorbacks will face No. 36 Auburn at 2 p.m. on Friday before heading to Tuscaloosa to face No. 38 Alabama at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The 8-8 Razorbacks are coming off a two-loss weekend to open SEC play, falling to No. 18 Kentucky and No. 22 Kentucky. Arkansas freshman Johan den Toom recorded the only singles victory of the weekend, splitting his first SEC matches 1-1 with is sixth victory at the No. 5 singles position against Kentucky. The No. 41 doubles pair of seniors Hall Fess and Pete Thomason defeated their Vanderbilt opponent at the No. 2 doubles position on Friday, their 10th victory of the spring.
Auburn split the first weekend of SEC play, defeating Ole Miss on the road but falling to No. 17 Mississippi State. The Tigers are currently at 11-5 with three ranked singles and a weekend of home play ahead of them.
Alabama is off to a 7-6 start, leaving last weekend with a 1-1 record in conference play after taking down Ole Miss in Oxford. The Crimson Tide currently has three singles ranked within the top 100 ITA singles.
Arkansas will return to home action Friday, March 14, to take on No. 8 Texas A&M and the University of Nebraska-Omaha in its final doubleheader of the season.
