Razorbacks 12th Heading into Second Round of t

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Arkansas men’s golf team shot a 12-over par 300 in the opening round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships on Sunday at the 6,985-yard, par-72 Sawgrass Country Club.
The Razorbacks are in 12th place heading into today’s second round, just 14 strokes out of the lead. South Carolina leads the event after shooting a 2-under par 286 in the first round. LSU is second at even par (288) and Tennessee is in third place at 3-over par (291).
Sophomore Matt Bortis posted the Hogs’ top individual score on Sunday with an even-par 72. He is tied for 13th, just two shots off the lead of Kentucky’s John Holmes.
Redshirt freshman Scotty Campbell shot a 3-over par 75, while true freshman Eric Shriver fired a 4-over par 76. Junior Josh Farrell turned in a 5-over par 77 to round out the scoring for Arkansas.
The Hogs teed off at 9:30 a.m. this morning in second-round action.
