Razorbacks Advance To Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Arkansas men’s tennis team continued its stellar play at the UTSA Cup on Saturday, going 7-3 on the day and advancing to Sunday’s championship match against the Lamar “A” team.

The Razorbacks went 3-1 in singles matches against the Incarnate Word “A” team and 4-2 in singles and doubles matches against the Lamar “B” team, which included players from both Lamar and UTSA.

“We are excited to be in tomorrow’s championship match of the UTSA Cup,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “We had a good day today. Tomorrow will be a big challenge and we are eager to play and continue to progress.”

Juan Marino and Jacob Herndon both went 2-0 in singles on the day, as Marino improved to 3-0 on the weekend. Johan den Toom and Austin Robles both went 1-1 in singles, while the doubles team of Marino and Herndon won their lone match of the day, also improving to 3-0 on the weekend.

Arkansas will conclude play at the UTSA Cup in tomorrow’s championship match against the Lamar “A” team at 9 a.m. There will be four singles and two doubles flights champions, but there will be no team champion at the event.
