Razorbacks At The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 13th-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the Sixth Annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Friday through Sunday.

This year’s event takes place on the Pete Dye Course, a par-71, 6,160-yard course with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. central. Eight of the top-15 programs in the country are in the 17-team field, including one top-5 opponent.

Arkansas opened the spring two weeks ago at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, an event that the Razorbacks had won the two previous seasons. Head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor shakes up the lineup as senior Summar Roachell makes the cut for the event.

Roachell is joined by sophomore Kaylee Benton, junior Alana Uriell, and sophomores Maria Fassi and Cara Gorlei. The event opens with a concert by the tournament’s namesake followed by 18 holes on each of three days.

Uriell finished the fall on a high note, capturing her first collegiate title at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. The Carlsbad, California, native leads the team with a 70.93 stroke average. She has been Arkansas’ top finisher in two of the first five tournaments in what has been a balanced Razorback lineup.

Fassi opened the year with a win at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Gorlei and Benton have each finished low for the team once this season.
