FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Arkansas pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout as the Razorbacks blanked No. 30 Oral Roberts, 10-0, Tuesday night at Baum Stadium, sweeping the two-game season series. Arkansas (24-26) won its third game in a row and snapped the Golden Eagles’ (35-10) six-game winning streak. ORU, ranked 30th in the Collegiate Baseball poll, had a 13-game winning streak snapped in a 4-2 home loss to the Hogs earlier this year. Wes McCrotty (3-2) struck out seven and walked two in seven innings to earn the victory in his first start since Feb. 27. Jeremy Rankin and Layne Berry each pitched one inning of scoreless relief. The Razorbacks staked McCrotty to an early lead with two runs in the first inning before erupting for seven runs on five hits in the fifth inning to chase ORU starter Trevor Leu (6-3). Leu allowed nine runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings and was charged with the loss. He was also the loser in the April 17 loss to UA. Brett Hagedorn, Tigger Lyles and Kyle Washburn had two hits each to lead the Hogs, who out-hit the Golden Eagles, 11-5. David Castillo collected two hits to lead ORU. The victory gave the Razorbacks their first three-game winning streak since sweeping a three game series with Eastern Illinois Feb. 23 and 25. The win also broke a stretch of six-consecutive wins by the visiting team in the series. The game marked Arkansas’ final non-conference contest of the year. UA’s game against Southwest Baptist that was scheduled for Wednesday was canceled April 16. Arkansas will conclude its home schedule this weekend with a three-game Southeastern Conference series against No. 1 LSU. Game times for the series are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and 1:07 p.m. CT on Sunday.
