Razorbacks Climb to 21st in Sports Weekly/ESPN

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas baseball team climbed two spots to 21st in the latest Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll released on Monday.
The Razorbacks improved to 6-1 this weekend after winning two of three games at Louisiana Tech. UA opened the series on Friday with a 5-2 win behind an excellent start from right-handed freshman Nick Schmidt. He pitched five strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out four.
Arkansas then took the rubber game of the series on Sunday, 9-4, as Scott Bridges tied the school record with four stolen bases. Blake Parker also went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBI to provide the Razorbacks’ offense.
Head Coach Dave Van Horn’s club also moved up one spot in the Collegiate Baseball poll to 23rd.
Texas is ranked first in both the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches poll and the Collegiate Baseball rankings.
The Hogs open their home slate on Friday at 2:35 p.m. against defending Big 10 champion Minnesota.
