FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas baseball team ended a 13-month absence from the national college baseball rankings Monday when Collegiate Baseball newspaper ranked the Razorbacks 21st in its latest poll. The ranking marks Arkansas’ first appearance in a national poll since Collegiate Baseball placed the Hogs at No. 32 in its 2000 preseason poll. Arkansas (8-2) extended its winning streak to seven games with a three-game sweep of Eastern Illinois last weekend at Baum Stadium. UA will conclude a seven-game homestand – its longest of the season – when its hosts Northwestern (La.) State Tuesday at 4 p.m. CT. The Hogs will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., this weekend to compete in the Hormel Foods Baseball Classic at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. UA will face host Minnesota Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT, San Diego State Saturday at 7 p.m. CT and Miami (Fla.) Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. The Hurricanes are ranked fourth in this week’s Baseball America poll and eighth in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll.
