FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas soccer alumni came out and played hard, but could not muster much offense against the current Razorbacks at Razorback Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Razorbacks saw 20 soccer alumni return to the pitch for the game in a contest that saw one 45 minute half and a 20 minute second period. The alumni used every option available to attempt to generate an attack on the current squad, even playing as many as 13 players on the field, but the current team stood tall and allowed just a couple of shots to even approach the goal.
The current Razorbacks jumped out in front early in the game and never looked back, dominating play in the midfield and generating multiple attacks. Had it not been for several key saves and tackles, the alumni may have been faced with a huge deficit.
With the alumni game over, Arkansas now turns its attention to a Sunday afternoon match up with the University of Memphis. The two squads are scheduled to meet at Bryant High School at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.
