Razorbacks Finish Runner-Up At Tiger Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – In the final tune-up of the regular season, the No. 29 Arkansas men’s golf team competed in the 36-hole Tiger Classic on Thursday, finishing T-2nd at the University Club of Baton Rouge.

On a course that will be featured as one of the six NCAA Regional sites, the Razorbacks recorded rounds of 299-298 – 597 (+21) and finished runner-up alongside Southeastern Louisiana. LSU took home the title on its home course at 6-over par and Arkansas finished five strokes ahead of 14th-ranked Texas A&M.

Freshman Luis Garza continued his stretch of strong play, finishing alone in fourth place for his third top five showing of the year, including his team-best ninth finish inside the top 20. His rounds of 70-71 – 141 (-3) gave him multiple rounds under par in a tournament for the fifth time this season.

Junior Alvaro Ortiz posted matching rounds of 74-74 – 148 (+4) to finish T-8th overall, while freshman Dylan Naidoo tallied another top-20 finish at T-12th overall after signing for 76-75 – 151 (+7).

Freshmen Mason Overstreet and William Buhl rounded out the team as Overstreet finished T-25th at 13-over, while Buhl was T-30th at 17-over.

The Razorbacks return to action on April 21-24, traveling to the 2017 SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia.
