Razorbacks Finish Second, Break Eight Records

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Arkansas swimming and diving earned a second-place finish at the Missouri Invite, breaking eight school records in three days.

Junior Anna Hopkin led the Razorbacks in record-breaking performances, breaking six individual records and two relay records. Her 100 freestyle (47.87) in the preliminary round earned a second-place finish and broke the record she set earlier this month, while her first-place finish (47.05) in the finals made the NCAA ‘A’ cut.

Freshman Vanessa Herrmann’s sixth-place 200 yard backstroke (2:14.19) set a season-best time, before setting another season-best in the finals for a fifth-place finish (2:13.03). Marlena Pigliacampi also set a season-best, winning the 200 butterfly (1:59.57) in the preliminary round.

Peyton Palsha set a season-best in the 1650 freestyle (16:32.44), earning a second-place finish in the finals. In the final event of the invite, the Hogs won the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.05) as Kobie Melton, Hopkin, Molly Moore, and Kiera Michailoff-Russell broke the school record for the event.

Arkansas finished in second-place overall (714) at the invite behind host Missouri.

The Razorbacks will return to the pool at the end of the month for the U.S. Swimming Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.
