Razorbacks Golfers Shoot -6 in First Round of

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arkansas men’s golf team shot a six-under-par round of 282 on Sunday in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club.
The Razorbacks are in seventh place after the first round, just six strokes behind first-place TCU. Texas Christian fired a 12-under-par 276 to lead second-place UNLV by one stroke (277). New Mexico, Arizona State and Arizona are all tied for third place after eight-under-par rounds of 280 on Sunday.
Matt Bortis led the Hogs contingent with a three-under-par 69 and is tied for 13th headed into today’s second round. Redshirt freshman Barrett Lais shot a two-under par 70 in his first tournament action of the spring for Arkansas. He is tied for 17th after the first round of play.
Redshirt freshman Scotty Campbell finished the day in red numbers with a one-under-par 71. Sophomore Beau Glover also made his first appearance in the Razorbacks’ lineup this spring with an even-par-round of 72.
TCU’s J.J. Killeen leads all golfers after firing a six-under-par 66 on Sunday. Six golfers are tied for second place after rounds of 67.
Second round action in the NIT began this morning with the final round scheduled for Wednesday.
