Razorbacks Head North To Gopher Invitational

Live Scoring

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 20 Arkansas men’s golf team goes right back to work this weekend, traveling to the University of Minnesota for the Gopher Invitational.

The Razorbacks return to the Gopher Invite for the first time in four years after the program competed in the event for six consecutive seasons from 2007-2012. During that six-year span, Arkansas finished outside the top three just one time and captured the 2011 team title under head coach Brad McMakin, one of his 22 tournament victories as a Razorback.

The 54-hole event will be played at the John Fought and Tom Lehman designed Windsong Farm Golf Club, a par 71, 7,152-yard layout that opened in 2004. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, Sept. 10, before coming back for 18 holes on Sunday, Sept. 11. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.

The 14-team field features three teams ranked in the Bushnell Golfweek preseason top 25 poll, while five other programs are receiving votes. No. 10 Oklahoma is looking to defend its title from a year ago, while No. 11 California joins the Razorbacks as the three nationally ranked teams in the event.

Alvaro Ortiz will top the Arkansas lineup after coming off a runner-up finish last week at Pebble Beach. He posted three consecutive rounds under par for the first time in his career, including a collegiate-best 6-under 66 in the opening round.

Freshmen Dylan Naidoo and Mason Overstreet will start second and third respectively in the lineup, while sophomore Charles Kim will make his first appearance of the fall in the fourth position after earning PING All-America honorable mention honors as a rookie.

William Buhl will round out the team in the fifth position and Luis Garza will participate as an individual.
