Razorbacks Head To Baton Rouge To Face LSU

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – Coming off a doubleheader sweep of Auburn and Saint Louis last Saturday, the Arkansas men’s tennis team (12-9, 3-4 SEC) looks to continue its recent success, as the Razorbacks travel to Baton Rouge on Friday to face the LSU Tigers (5-13, 1-6 SEC) at 5 p.m. at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Arkansas went 2-1 last week, including a victory over conference foe, Auburn. The Razorbacks have won four of their last five matches and 10 of their last 14, after starting the spring 2-5.

Mike Redlicki (No. 10) and Jose Salazar (No. 26) remain in the latest Oracle/ITA national singles rankings, and No. 37 in the national doubles rankings.

Redlicki is 24-8 overall and 15-5 against ranked opponents in singles play, while Salazar is 25-6 overall and 6-3 against ranked foes. Salazar is a team-best 14-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 against ranked opponents this spring. The duo of Redlicki and Salazar is 8-4 this spring and 11-5 overall in doubles play.

Salazar and Oscar Mesquida are tied for the team lead with a 5-1 record in SEC singles play, while Johan den Toom is 5-2 in SEC singles play. Salazar looks to remain perfect on the road, as he holds a 4-0 record away from home this season, including a 3-0 mark against SEC opponents. Mesquida, Salazar, den Toom and Juan Marino have all eclipsed the 10-win mark in singles play this spring.

Sitting 12th in the current SEC standings, LSU is on a four-match skid, including dropping three straight in conference play. The Tigers have two nationally ranked singles players in Jordan Diagle (No. 44) and Justin Butsch (No. 56).

Arkansas will play its next three matches on the road against LSU (March 31), No. 7 Texas A&M (April 2) and Ole Miss (April 7), before returning home for a quad match against Jackson State on April 9.
