FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s golf team returns to the course this weekend for its second tournament of the spring season, traveling to the SunTrust Gator Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The 15-team field features seven teams ranked in the inside the top 35 of the Golfstat national rankings. Arkansas checks in at No. 29 after a fourth-place finish in its spring debut at the Sea Best Invitational two weeks ago.
The Razorbacks return to the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, for the fifth time in the last six years after a runner-up finish in 2015 and a tournament title at the event in 2014. The 6,701-yard par 70 course will feature 36 holes on Saturday, Feb. 18, before closing out play with the final round on Sunday, Feb. 19. Coming off his third consecutive top 10 finish, junior Alvaro Ortiz will assume the top spot in the lineup for the seventh time this year. He holds a team-best 70.5 stroke average with 10 rounds under par and has provided a counting score in 16 of his 18 rounds this season.
After both players finished T-20th two weeks ago, freshmen Luis Garza (71.4) and Dylan Naidoo (72.2) will start second and third in the lineup respectively.
Freshman William Buhl posted a top 15 finish in the last event and secures the No. 4 spot in the lineup, while sophomore Charles Kim will round out the team looking to post his first top 20 finish of the year.
For the second straight tournament, freshman Mason Overstreet will represent the Razorbacks as an individual, competing in his seventh collegiate tournament and carrying a 72.9 stroke average into the weekend.
