Razorbacks, Hudson And Lysa In Final ITA Rankings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Shannon Hudson, junior Yuliya Lysa and the Arkansas women’s tennis team were listed among the nation’s best in the final Oracle/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings for the 2015 season.

The tandem of Hudson and Lysa are ranked No. 31. The duo was selected as an alternate team (second alternates) for the 2015 NCAA doubles competition after going 8-10 overall (4-6 SEC) and defeating three nationally ranked opponents in the No. 1 doubles spot for head coach Michael Hegarty.

Lysa, the 12th Razorback in program history to earn an at-large NCAA singles selection, finished No. 46 in the final ITA rankings. The Kiev, Ukraine native was named one of 12 women’s tennis players to watch by the ITA and earned All-SEC second team honors in 2015. She finished her first year at Arkansas with a 20-9 overall dual record and a 13-8 record in the top singles slot. Lysa also defeated seven nationally-ranked players during the year.

As a team, Arkansas finished with a ranking of 38th in the final rankings for the 2015 season. The Razorbacks secured the program’s 13th NCAA Team Championship bid and finished the season 16-15 overall and 4-9 in SEC play.
