Razorbacks Launch Five-Game Spring Slate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback Soccer launches into its five-game spring slate this Saturday by traveling to St. Louis to face off against the Illinois Fighting Illini as part of the 2016 Parkway College Showcase.

The matchup, the first-ever meeting between the two teams, is set to kick off on 1:30 p.m. CDT at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex.

The Razorbacks will play five exhibition games every Saturday this April: Three matches will be on the road against Power Five conference teams, and two matches will take place in the Natural State — one at home in Razorback Field, and the other at Burns Park in Little Rock on April 23.

Arkansas head soccer coach Colby Hale said the team’s spring session was split up into two training segments. Before spring break, the team focused on different systems: Speed, agility, strength, power and individual technical work. After spring break, the emphasis shifts to treating the spring exhibition games like a mini-season that will help coaches assess the team prior to the start of the fall regular season.

“First up is Illinois, a traditional Big Ten power,” Hale said. “It will be a good test. You always have questions in the off-season and this will give us a chance to try and find some answers. It will be a good opportunity to see where we’re at.”

Admission to the Parkway College Showcase will be $8 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 10. Parking will be free.
