Razorbacks Leap Forward In Rankings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ unprecedented standing in several national polls and rankings continues to improve in response to the program winning 11 of its 12 matches with seven remaining in the regular season.

The Razorbacks’ victories against Alabama on Sept. 22 and Ole Miss on Sept. 25 moved the team ahead three spots to No. 12 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, released Tuesday afternoon. Arkansas also held on to its second place ranking in the NSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s South Regional poll. Only South Carolina placed higher by taking the top spot in the region.

Only three other Southeastern Conference teams were ranked in the NSCAA top 25 poll: South Carolina (No. 5), Florida (No. 18) and Auburn (No. 20).

The team’s top-15 ranking is supplemented by two other accolades released on Monday: TopDrawerSoccer.com ranked Arkansas No. 9 in the nation in its weekly top 25 poll and the NCAA placed the Razorbacks at No. 9 in its weekly RPI rankings.

The RPI plays an important role in the NCAA’s decision-making process that helps select teams to participate in the NCAA Tournament. It takes into account a team’s winning percentage and its opponents’ average winning percentage, among other factors.

Arkansas will face South Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 9 and Auburn on Friday, Oct. 14 in back-to-back road matches. Both contests will be streamed live on SEC Network+ via the WatchESPN app.
