Razorbacks On The Road For Quad Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas swim and dive team (2-3, 0-3 SEC) will hit the road once again this weekend as swimmers head to Nashville, Tennessee, to face the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-5, 0-3 SEC) and Houston Cougars (3-1), while dive travels to Clemson, South Carolina, to take on the Clemson Tigers and Houston Cougars.

The Razorbacks have not had a home meet since hosting back-to-back meets against No. 18 Florida and South Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 4-5.

Coming off its 24th consecutive non-conference meet win, Arkansas is looking to extend that streak to 26 with wins over Houston and Clemson. In their last outing, the Razorbacks defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini 179-118 in Champaign, Illinois, taking home 11 first place finishes in the meet. The Razorbacks earned two of the top three spots in 12 different events, sweeping the top three in the 100 backstroke, 1m and 3m dives.

Hosting this quad-meet a season ago, Arkansas swept all three teams, defeating Vanderbilt 225-101, Houston 221-122 and Clemson 233-19. Arkansas tallied seven first-place finishes in total with five individual wins and two relay events victories.

Arkansas is looking to pick up its first conference win of the season against Vanderbilt. The Commodores are returning to the pool for the first time in the New Year. Vanderbilt’s last meet was against Campbell, where it defeated the Camels 144.5-117.5 for its second win of the season. Arkansas looks remain perfect against the ‘Dores all-time, as the Razorbacks hold an 8-0 advantage in the series. Vanderbilt will only be competing in swimming events this weekend.

Clemson, conversely, will only be participating in diving events this weekend. Arkansas has also never lost to the Tigers, holding a 2-0 edge over Clemson.

For the 17th time in school history, the Razorbacks and Cougars will compete in the pool. Arkansas grasps a 12-4 record against Houston all-time. Houston claimed a first place finish at the Phill Hansel Invitational and a second place finish at the Rice Invitational in November.
