Razorbacks Open Play At Querencia Cabo Collegiate
LOS CABOS, Mexico – The No. 26 Arkansas men’s golf team opened play at the 2017 Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Sunday and posted an 8-over 288 to sit in 10th place at Querencia Golf Club.
In a loaded field that features 10 of the top 30 teams in the country, the Razorbacks round out the top 10 and lead a pair of nationally ranked squads. Arkansas is one shot clear of No. 21 Duke and two strokes ahead of top-ranked Vanderbilt.
Junior Alvaro Ortiz returned to the lineup in fine fashion, recording three birdies and just one bogey to sit T-13th overall at 2-under. He opened the day with 11 consecutive pars, before carding three birdies in the next four holes to jump into red figures.
Freshman Dylan Naidoo opened the back nine with a pair of double bogeys, but bounced right back and closed the side with three birdies in a four-hole span to finish his day with a 1-over 72, good for T-34th overall.
Freshmen William Buhl and Mason Overstreet each recorded a pair of birdies, as Buhl is T-46th at 3-over, while Overstreet is T-65th at 6-over. Freshman Luis Garza added an 11-over 82 and is T-74th.
Redshirt junior Ale Tahy teed it up as an individual and birdied two of his first three holes before settling for a 4-over 75, good for T-55th overall.
Arkansas returns to the course Monday morning, teeing off at 10 a.m. CT at Querencia Golf Club. Live stats will be available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
