Razorbacks Open Play At SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Arkansas men’s golf team fell behind early in the opening round of the SEC Championship on Friday and finished the 36-holes in 12th place at 31-over at the par 70 Seaside course at Sea Island Golf Club.

No. 15 Texas A&M leads the field at 5-under, while No. 3 Vanderbilt is two strokes off the pace at 3-under. No. 6 Florida is 2-under, No. 7 LSU is 2-over and Alabama and Missouri are T-5th at 3-over. The top eight teams in the field following the third round will advance to match play. The Razorbacks posted rounds of 299-292 – 591 (+31) and are 22 shots off the cutline.

Freshman Mason Overstreet leads the way after his even-par 70 in the afternoon left him T-32nd overall at 4-over par. He made the turn in his second round at 1-under, before shooting 1-over on the back side in his first career SEC Championship.

Sophomore Charles Kim had it going in the morning round, shooting 3-under on the back nine and finishing the day T-50th overall at 72-77 – 149 (+9). Dylan Naidoo is T-58th at 11-over, Luis Garza is T-60th at 12-over and Alvaro Ortiz rounded out the team at 13-over and T-62nd overall.

The third and final round of stroke play begins Saturday morning and live stats will be available at Golfstat.com or via the Golfstat Live app.
