Razorbacks Own ORU, 5-2

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas continued its dominance of Oral Roberts on Tuesday night in front of 1,249 fans at Baum Stadium with a 5-2 win.
The Razorbacks have a 22-5 record against ORU dating back to the 1995 season and have won 11 of the last 12 against the Golden Eagles.
The win snapped a season-high three-game losing streak for the Hogs and improved their record to 32-11. The loss drops ORU to 22-16 on the season.
Arkansas snapped a 24-inning scoreless streak in the second inning with Ben Tschepikow scoring on Craig Gentry’s ground ball to ORU’s Michael Hollimon who threw wildly to first base.
It was the first run scored off the Golden Eagle’s Dennis Bigley in 22 innings. Bigley was tagged with the loss to drop to 6-3 on the season after allowing the one run on two hits in two innings of work.
“We just needed to scores some runs and get that feeling back,” Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn said. “I was proud of our guys. They bounced back after this weekend and played good defense. We faced some good pitching and we really put a lot of flesh on the ball.”
Arkansas scored another unearned run in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 2-0. Tschepikow came through with a RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Hogs a 3-0 lead and Hamblin pushed the lead to 4-0 with a RBI single in the sixth inning.
Scott Hode cracked his second home run of the season with one out in the seventh inning to give the Hogs a 5-0 lead.
Jake Dugger came through with his first three-hit game of the season to pace the Razorbacks 11-hit attack. Clint Arnold also picked up three hits in five at bats and Hamblin went 2 for 4.
Shaun Seibert (5-1) earned the win in relief with two strong innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. Devin Collis started and worked four innings and surrendered just one hit while striking out three.
The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the ninth inning off Charley Boyce for the final margin.
The Razorbacks hit the road this weekend for a three-game set with SEC foe Kentucky.
