Razorbacks Picked Fifth In SEC Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – One week after the Razorbacks came in at No. 19 in the updated Oracle/ITA National Rankings, the Arkansas men’s tennis team was picked to finish fifth in the men’s tennis coaches’ preseason poll released on Wednesday.

Arkansas was picked fifth and received 120 of a possible 169 points. Georgia was picked as the overall champion with 168 of a possible 169 points, followed by Florida, Kentucky and Texas A&M. After Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Auburn round out the rest of the preseason poll.

Mike Redlicki and Jose Salazar are ranked No. 3 and No. 19, respectively, in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings. Arkansas is one of four teams in the nation with two singles players ranked in the top 20. Redlicki is also the highest ranked singles player in the SEC.

The preseason poll is voted on by the men’s tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.

Arkansas begins the 2017 season Friday against Tulsa, which is receiving votes in the team rankings. It’s the first of 12 home dates on the schedule that also includes seven night matches, starting with SMU on Jan. 20.
