Razorbacks play two in Tulsa on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas soccer team continues its seven-game spring schedule on Saturday with two games at the University of Tulsa on Saturday, March 30.  Arkansas kicks off with Oral Roberts at 11 a.m. before taking on the host Tulsa at 5 p.m., at Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

Arkansas returns 22 players to the field this spring as it attempts to build on a 9-10-1 2012 regular season which included six wins in Southeastern Conference play.  The Razorbacks return three of their top five scorers as well as their leading goalkeeper from last fall and 10 of their 11 starters remain on the roster.

The Razorbacks are playing their second and third games of the spring schedule after taking Oklahoma to a scoreless tie at home earlier this month.  Arkansas second-year head coach Colby Hale was pleased with his team’s performance against the Sooners as he continues to implement the style of play that he wants out of his squad.

Oral Roberts finished the 2012 season with a record of 12-7-2 and return 79 percent of its scoring from last season’s team.  The Golden Eagles advanced to the semifinals of the Southland Conference tournament before losing to then No. 26, and eventual tournament champion, Stephen F. Austin, 2-1.  Arkansas and Oral Roberts last met on the soccer pitch during the regular season in 2009 and the Razorbacks own a 10-2-0 record against the Golden Eagles all-time.

Tulsa advanced to the Conference USA Tournament championship game last year and wrapped up a successful season 12-6-4 overall.  The Golden Hurricane went 6-3-2 in league play and returns three of their top five scorers from a year ago.  The Razorbacks and Golden Hurricane have a long history, a history dominated by Tulsa as they own an 18-8-2 lead in the all-time series.  The two squads did play to a double-overtime 0-0 tie in their last regular season meeting in the fall of 2009.
